The Moose Riders would like to express sincerest sympathies to Bill, Dawn and Maggie Curran and their family for the loss of Bill’s mom, Bernice Curran. In lieu of flowers we will be making a donation in Bernice’s name.
On Saturday, October 2nd the Lodge held a Texas BBQ. LOOM member Jim Hartney cooked up a Texas Style BBQ dinner with all the trimmings. If you missed this BBQ dinner, watch for the next one and dig out your ten gallon hat, dust off your bolo tie and put on your best pair of cowboy boots for a belly full Texas style. After dinner, the Riders held a White Elephant Raffle to benefit two of our beloved Moose Rider families, the Livorsis' and Solbergs' who are both battling cancers.
As always, the White Elephant Raffle had many surprises and lots of laughs. Best/Funniest white elephant was picked by Rita D, who is now the proud owner of a Stuffed Moose with a rather large appendage...LOL. Proceeds from the dinner and raffle were boosted by the LOOM, WOTM and MRA and were presented to both families at the “For Pete's Sake” benefit held at the Vintage Social Club in Villa Park, IL on October 17. Our Lodge can be very proud of the donation we were able to make. You are all angels in my book! Special thanks to members who attended the BBQ dinner and White Elephant Raffle and to those who donated raffle items, to those who cooked, to those who participated in the bike escort of Pete and Kathy to the Vintage Social club and those who attended Pete’s benefit. It is a proud time to be a member of the Lombard Moose Lodge.
The first weekend in November Moose Riders are planning a pizza party at Mooseheart as part of our Illinois Days gift to Minnesota House. They had asked for a Christmas tree, which we will deliver at that time. Watch your email for more details from Bill. November 6th is also the Reverse Raffle at the lodge. Proceeds from this raffle will pay off the long-standing mortgage debt so get your tickets. No need to be present, just have someone who is attending watch your ticket, make sure you indicate your sharing preference, if any….Moose Riders have committed to selling 50/50 tickets at this event which is always a good time.
Mark you calendars for a Moose Riders Tailgate Party (flaming garbage can optional) Bears vs. Packers on Sunday, January 2nd. Game time 1pm. Tailgate food and fun are planned more details to follow. Go Bears!
Our next Moose Rider meeting will be held on Sunday, November 7th at 9:30 am. We are asking all Riders to attend. Share with us some of the rides you have been on. We will be gathering ideas for our annual overnighter and various rides throughout the coming year. We will not be voting on destinations at this meeting. Breakfast will be served by the usual suspects…just kidding guys, we appreciate all you do for our Sunday meetings.
